      Hi all,

Finally the holiday is here, the FPU is ready, bags and gear ready to load: destination Italy so see mamma and, of course, go fishing :cheer:

After some research on the current regulations in the country i was really surprised to discover how complicate it has became!!

Here a short list of the points to remember to avoid a fine or worst in Italy if you decide to go there for a fishing trip:

      1) Night fishing is forbidden. To be caught at night with a speargun in the hands is going to put you into real troubles… be aware that police at sea will not think twice to jump in the water with scuba gear to find the gun if you decide to drop it.

      2) Is forbidden to fish at less than:
      – 100m from a harbor
      – 500m from a beach with people
      – 100m from a rocky shore or cliff with people
      – You can fish if there are no persons swimming or sunbathing, especially if is a rocky shore.

      3) Can’t cross areas with swimmers with the speargun loaded (!)

      4) The float is mandatory and the flag should be the diver flag (red with white diagonal). The A flag (blue/white) will not be accepted.

      5) A free license, printable online, is required for italian citizens but i can’t figure-out how you can do without an italian ID number… ask the local “Capitaneria di porto” just to be sure… maybe for foreigners is not required.

There are minimum sizes and you can find it here: http://www.pescare.net/pesci/tabella-misure-minime-dei-pesci google-translate the page…

In some particular area, natural reserves, there is a total ban of spearfishing: ask the local spearfishing shop about it.

      Ciao!
